Here it is, the long-awaited site for all things Lyle.
This page is in construction, but feel free to wander around. There are at least a few things that look OK.
About Me:
I build robot airplanes and helicopters for a living. Lately I've also been in charge of piloting them. So work is about my favorite place to be. I "work" for the Field Robotics Center at CMU in Pittsburgh, Pa.
I grew up in the farming town of Oak City, UT. (Pop 530) I worked at IBM Tucson for about a year, then I moved to the Domincan Republic to do service for a couple years. I finally attended Caltech for my B.S. in Pasadena, CA.
That's the short story. Click around to find out more!
Updates:
May 7:
Today I got some great shots of Robot City (formerly LTV Steel) with my sweet two-day build UAV. I sent up a Nikon P5000 camera with a 10Mp imager. Stay tuned for pictures of the airplane. For now, see the resulting images here. We are stitching them together to make a giant high-res picture of the site. There are various projects that can use this information, which is higher resolution and more timely than the Google Earth images.
April 20:
I went to Rome for the 2007 ICRA Conference. A lot of my friends from CMU were also there. We had a blast! Check out some pictures.
April 5:
I went to Freedom Sciences in Philly and installed a vision-based tracking system on their auto-docking wheelchair. Normally, they use a laser-based system, which is very expensive (>$10,000). Ours can be built for less than $1,000. This system allows a paraplegic to get in a van to drive without needing help to store his chair. The chair automatically goes to the back and docks with the lift after the driver gets in the van. Here is a video.
